ABSTRACT
In this chapter, I discuss Foucault’s place in the humanities, specifically with regard to his appropriation by neoliberals, to defend him against Marxists like Frederic Jameson who has taken issue with Foucault’s intellectual dismissal of Marxism. I also offer an apologia for using the writings of Lacan and Foucault, arguably dystopian intellectuals, to analyze utopian literature.
