ABSTRACT

Chapter 10 focuses on gender and diversity in the workplace by highlighting a number of gender-based inequities and investigating their ramifications. Exploring how sex-role socialization shapes both life experiences and work aspirations, the chapter covers how sex and gender bias influence job interviews, and considers how diversification impacts the organization and its employees.

Also considered are gender-role biases, the identification of role stereotypes, and sexual harassment. Additionally, the chapter looks at advancement barriers, including the glass ceiling, the sticky floor, the glass escalator, sexual harassment, and an array of harmful communication practices. It also considers how gendered leadership/management styles affect employee performance.
