Conflict, Power, and Gender Violence

Chapter 14 delves deeper into the dark side of relationships by examining the relationship between conflict, power, and gender violence. It covers relational violence including physical and sexual aggression, and gives attention to the role that conflict-handling behaviors and types of power play in each. Also explored are how institutions, people, and gender interact when it comes not only to conflict and power, but also to gender intimidation and violence, both physical and sexual. Rape and sexual-violence myths are dispelled and the need to denormalize violence discussed.
