ABSTRACT

We conduct interviews to gain information (and bites), so it makes sense to combine all of that into one chapter. The chapter covers collecting information – especially information online (which is where broadcast stations conduct most of their research). Critical to conducting research online is verifying that information before using it. The chapter also discusses the difference between facts and opinions and how to handle each. And the chapter goes into how to conduct a successful interview, what questions to ask and not ask, what a reporter should be looking for from an interview and what makes for good bites and bad bites.
