The disclosure process for victims can pose challenges for investigators and prosecutors. How victims disclose and the factors that impact disclosure are discussed in this chapter. The role of trauma on disclosure is addressed, as well as the role of the interviewer. Exploration of the triggers for disclosure is often an avenue to further investigatory material. Finally, recantation as well as secondary victimization as problems with disclosure is explained.
