ABSTRACT

Chapter 2 begins by exploring A/R/Tography’s role as a framework for thinking with and through theory and offers glimpses into the author’s playful conceptualizations. A/r/tography opens spaces for sensuous discoveries through material exploration. This form of inquiry centers on the process of finding rather than an emphasis on solving. A/r/tography, while rigorous, offers unique platforms for investigation honoring the unique lived experiences of each artist/teacher/researcher. As a creative framework, it offers multiple entry points into experience. Receptivity to ambiguity, the disrupting of language as it becomes entangled with image, material intra-actions, and the tensions these moments produce offer a reconsideration as to how research unfolds.
