ABSTRACT

Good assistants are defined by many things, but one of the most prominent is the quality, clarity, and professional look of their paperwork. Simple choices that result in beautiful and effective documents consistently separate excellent assistants from the pack. The light plot is part of a larger group of documents that constitute the lighting design drawing package—the epicenter around which all other lighting documents revolve. Although the term “paperwork” sometimes refers to the overall design package, it is also used specifically for organizational lighting documentation—the most important for designers and assistants are the instrument schedule and channel hookup. Conveniently, data can be exchanged between Vectorworks and Lightwright by using the automatic data exchange feature so that the plot and paperwork sync precisely. After syncing the initial plot and paperwork, begin to clean up the Lightwright file to assure that our naming conventions and formatting are consistent throughout the documents.
