ABSTRACT

This chapter examines video projectors and emissive displays used as outputs in a video system. The first section breaks down the basics of video projectors, from components to projector types (LCD, DLP, and LCOS) and differing light sources. The second section examines different considerations for projectors, such as brightness, resolution/aspect ratio, and lens capabilities. It also includes information on projector stacking and edge blending as well as useful projector calculations, such as image width, throw distance, throw ratio, and image brightness. The final section covers emissive displays, such as video monitors, LED, and transparent displays. In addition, field research is included in the form of an interview with screens producer Laura Frank.
