ABSTRACT

This introduction provides a thematic overview of the book, with consideration given to its key themes of political performance, digital mediatisation, and populism. With reference to the theatrical origins of the term ‘post-truth’, this introduction contextualises the book as a response to post-truth digital populism. It introduces key challenges that shape the role of performance in relation to political interaction in the present day. It also sets out the aims and scope of the work and provides a brief overview of each chapter.
