ABSTRACT
This chapter is a case study based on resilience and is told through the eyes of Paul, a film studies teacher in further education. Paul presents the story of his uphill battle with redundancy and the loss of his old lifestyle. He describes how he immersed himself into his career with little room for anything beyond this and the impact that the loss of this had on his morale. Paul goes on to demonstrate how he overcame his adversity through addressing his attitude to the difficulty and seeking support from a friend. His story, then, is one of resilience-building as he narrates his life-changing experiences and describes his quest to discover a way of situating his problems into a healthy context. Paul thus learns to embrace his change by seeking ways to draw opportunities from it.
