ABSTRACT

In December 2019, a pandemic emerged in Wuhan, China, but few could predict the impact this would have on the world. Covid-19 quickly spread across the globe and within months there were arguably few people on the earth who had at least heard of this virus, let alone become aware of its deadly potential. In March 2020, the World Health Organization expressed concern over how Covid-19 was ‘generating stress throughout the population’. For teachers, the profession also took on a new form around this time. Teaching moved online during the second international lockdown and isolation began to take its toll on individuals. Covid-19 impacted widely on the profession, including those training to work in it. Resilience is essential for teachers because teaching is about growth, and growth can be occur without change. Resilience, then, supports education professionals to continue doing what they do best, even when the odds are against them.
