ABSTRACT

As the social media way of life integrates itself further into our everyday routines, online personal branding has been of growing importance and has been receiving a lot of attention as recruiters and employees look more and more into social media to vet the competition for particular roles. Several key studies have demonstrated over the past decade that home working and mobile working are related to higher levels of job satisfaction and employee engagement. The relationship is in part explained by the increased levels of autonomy and control that flexible working (work/life balance) and agile working (using technology to support effective patterns of working) afford. During the COVID-19 crisis, human factors specialists have been applying their collective knowledge to guide not only manufacturers and designers in changing their production towards key medical equipment such as ventilators and personal protective equipment but also on advising organisations on creating workplaces that will minimise the transmission of the virus.
