ABSTRACT

This chapter has provided an overview of the LICBT approach to treating depression and anxiety, and how it can be used when working with someone with an LTC. Several resources are available to support treatment, and being flexible in your approach is vital in order to offer choice and variety and increase engagement in psychological therapy. LICBT can help the person feel more in control of their mental health recovery by offering a broader self-help approach to symptom management. Research is limited in terms of conclusive evidence around CBT for LTC, at both Steps 2 and 3, but there are some large-scale studies in the process and the evidence in general for the LICBT is strong enough to guide clinical practice.
