ABSTRACT

This chapter asks readers to go through some self-examination in order that they might become more consciously aware of their own normative dispositions and factual understandings of the world, which may affect the way they understand an argumentative text. This is followed by a presentation of the most prominent logical fallacies. The chapter ends by bringing up the common body of knowledge and looking at how it affects the way we understand a logical argument. Chapter exercises help tie it all together.
