ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to thread together the core routines, practices and activities that you may see across the year at a Forest School and/or nature-based programme and shows how we deliver a Forest School/nature education programme. The subjects cover general practices to consider; long-term planning – working with the seasons in different cultures and with different age-related groups; some case studies – session planning at different stages in a programme and with different types of groups; and the art of observation and different ways of recording observations and evaluations. Also covered is the importance of language and communication – ways we communicate when facilitating nature education.
