ABSTRACT

We process everything through our senses via the brain and heart. This chapter will explore how the senses work with our bodies. We will look at why learning in nature is so fundamentally important for sensory human development. Integrating sensory and emotional human attachment is growing increasingly important – the chapter will briefly explore this. Sensory processing disorders and the importance of contact with nature will also be looked at. We will then move on to discover how nature pedagogy supports the eight core human senses. This chapter should be read in conjunction with Chapters 7, 8 and 9, as our sensory system is inextricably linked to our brain, body, mind and behaviour patterns.
