ABSTRACT

The second project of the library crime series focused on Canadian public libraries. Canada, the second largest country in the world, has the briefest national history of the countries examined. The first federalization of territories occurred in 1867, and continued until 1949, when the province of Newfoundland was added. While each province has its own government with autonomy in many spheres, the federal government is the central authority. The population is diverse in origin with strong British and French components. Other European, native, and Asian peoples also comprise significant groupings.
