ABSTRACT

‘Students are tackling and solving real-world problems. Students are tasked with coming up with the solution on their own’. This chapter explores discusses the benefits of a live case, how to prepare the class, the actor and the live case, and the potential benefits of introducing co-opetition into live cases. A natural extension of the case method from text-based resources to digital and multimedia platforms leads to the potential for greater engagement in what many have referred to as live cases. Live case studies have been widely adopted as an approach to case study methodology for more than 30 years, as they contain all the critical components required for experiential learning. Live cases are less impactful if the preparation is lacking between the case tutor and the actor.
