ABSTRACT
The endnotes (supra) contain references to the sources used in writing this book. Some of these are quite old, which does not mean of course that they are no longer of any use. This is a bibliography mainly of works that have appeared since the first edition. Some of them relate to areas of imperial history that are covered only marginally in the book, or even not at all.
