ABSTRACT

In which you have the opportunity to attend day four of an empowering mindfulness course for women. The theme for the day is 'engendering mindfulness'. The word 'engender' is used to evoke the calling forth of a more differentiated approach to mindfulness as well as in the sense of bring about, bring on, catalyse, create, effect, generate, induce and invoke. I invite once again to enter into the evocative accounts of student-teacher interactions and experiences, drawing on your intellect, intuition and what you feel in your heart and body as you read about 'engendering mindfulness' while holding concepts of masculinity and femininity lightly. You may not only encounter ideas that challenge, surprise or possibly even shock, but hopefully also ones that inspire and amuse as you along with the students begin to see through binaries in relation to gender and mindfulness and perhaps more.
