ABSTRACT

This chapter tells a more tragic story about “Joy,” a 30-something-year-old female with a chronic delusion that she invented a non-invasive way to measure blood sugar in people with diabetes. The extent to which this delusion was “systematic” and really worked its way into all facets of Joy’s life will be discussed. Finally, the extent to which such a symptom can have real financial and other ramifications both for the patient as well as for the patient’s family will be discussed.
