ABSTRACT

Both of the parents of “Andrea” had schizophrenia. In fact, they met at an intensive outpatient program. Andrea always knew that she had a greater chance of developing schizophrenia and became more concerned when she began experiencing attenuated positive symptoms. Andrea ended up not developing schizophrenia. In this chapter, through the case of Andrea, how people cope with having a family member with schizophrenia both in terms of worrying about developing schizophrenia themselves to living with an affected individual will be discussed.
