ABSTRACT

The 1980s was the climax of Taiwan's animation processing industry. At that time, in addition to processing animations for Hanna-Barbera business, the animation processing industry represented by Wang Film Productions Co., Ltd., also successively won processing projects from Disney and Warner. At the peak season, Wang Film Productions Co., Ltd., even processed Saturday animations for American TV network, with the processing volume reaching 60%-70% of the total. Since the early 1980s, creators of animated short films in Taiwan used 8 mm and 16 mm materials. The creators of this animated short film were different from the predecessors who accepted the traditional Japanese and American animation training in the 1970s. In comparison, Taiwan animators in the 1980s became more diversified in the performance of animation materials and were no longer obsessed with the production techniques of celluloid animation. Their representative works include Fantasy, a puppetoon co-produced by Shi Changjie and Gao Zhongfu (1982).
