ABSTRACT
Over the last decade, there has been a shift worldwide toward the use of probabilistic methods for DNA profile interpretation. In this chapter, we describe the use of a semicontinuous (or discrete) method of interpretation for the interpretation of mixtures and LR assignment.
There are a number of different semicontinuous methods that have been published (Balding & Buckleton, 2009; Gill et al., 2000) and are available as software programs. In this chapter, we follow the methodology described by Gill et al. (2012).
