ABSTRACT

Jung coined the term “big dreams” to characterize those dreams that come with a clear, often spiritual message that has an immediate impact that may continue throughout the dreamer’s life. Big dreams tend to be more vivid and clear than ordinary dreams, and at the same time, more impactful. An extended clinical example illustrates one way of exploring a big dream, and also illustrates some of the ways these dreams are qualitatively quite different from our more frequent and typical dreams. The dream featured in this chapter takes the dreamer on an epic journey that confirms her longing for time alone to pursue the depths of her spiritual life.
