ABSTRACT
This chapter applies the analysis from the previous chapter to the history of foreign and domestic efforts to create large-scale changes to social practices—such as educational organization and processes—from a great distance and according to abstract theories, contrasting this approach to creating social change with a more locally sourced and locally responsible variety.
