ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses the technology and explain its importance and explores the role that technology plays in social change. It also explains how the Industrial Revolution significantly changed all aspects of society. The chapter analyses the relationship between technology and natural resources. It aims to distinguish the Industrial Revolution from the Information Revolution. The chapter shows how technological developments in the future will change society. It discusses the broad question of the relations between technology and social change, giving some case studies to make the process a bit more real. The chapter provides the traditional Industrial Revolution, providing some examples of how it progressed and the social change it brought about. It presents to the new Information Revolution that is in its early stages. The technological changes go under the name the Information Revolution—the replacement of human processing of information with computer processing of information.
