ABSTRACT

Since the company was founded, workshops, residencies and training programmes have been an integral part of Frantic Assembly’s work. The company has established an enviable reputation for high-quality and accessible learning and training provision, with activities happening across the world and throughout the United Kingdom. The diversity of Frantic’s learning and training work means that trying to construct a quintessential Frantic workshop has little or no relevance or meaning, and would run the risk of just describing exercises that are already very well-known and well-documented. This chapter gives the reader the opportunity to consider the delivery of an actual Frantic Assembly workshop and to review how the practice connects with the company’s history, its ways of working, its productions, and resources such as The Frantic Book and videos. It is based on a description of the first day of the Frantic Assembly Advanced Training Workshops, which took place at Cecil Sharp House, London, on Monday 18th November 2019.
