ABSTRACT

Not being or not feeling safe can form a barrier for children. Interventions can focus on increasing the child’s physical safety by making a safety plan, or on finding an attachment figure for the child, who stays in their life and makes sure they are OK. Decisions on contact arrangement can help the child to overcome this barrier. Children can be afraid of the consequences when they would talk about their memories. Interventions can focus on providing the child with emotional permission from his parent or with information about the possible legal consequences or possible decisions child protection services will make.
