ABSTRACT
The diagram below summarises the journey that Michael and Mark embarked upon with the rest of Michael’s team. The container metaphor is a great one for capturing the work involved in enabling dialogue to take place within a team, or indeed any group of people. As we saw, Mark did quite a lot of work before attempting to engage the team in dialogue. He worked closely with Hannah and then contracted with Michael to ensure they both aligned around the purpose for dialogue. They also made sure they agreed on the roles they would each play. He spoke to team members and prepared himself for stepping into the container. He thought about the setting, an environment in which the team had the best chance of engaging in dialogue.
