ABSTRACT

First, this chapter reflects upon the implications of the use of emotions by robot technology. The first part introduces different cases in which emotions are used in human–robot interaction (HRI) contexts. I draw particular attention to disparities found in recent technical literature relating to the appropriateness of the use of emotions in HRIs. Second, I explore the idea of whether robot technology may challenge dignity. I close the sub-chapter by reflecting about the future of care professions.
