ABSTRACT
If teachers are not joyful about teaching there is zero chance the students will be joyful about learning. One of the best ways to make students excited about being in a class is to be excited about being their teacher. Good teachers do not just teach lessons, they strive to make coming to school a positive experience for students. They are creating memories for those students. And part of what students find compelling is when their teachers do not try to hide their own humanity. Teachers are not perfect and it works out best when they do not pretend to be. Students love it when their teachers are “real” with them. They love it when teachers do not take themselves too seriously. Students respect the vulnerability, they appreciate the silliness, and they love the humor.
