ABSTRACT

Pretty much every teacher chose education because they wanted to make a difference, they wanted to matter. All of us can reflect on an educator who we admired when we were a student. Having a significant and lasting impact is one of the many things that makes teachers so special. Sadly, many people can also recall a teacher who did make everyone – or even anyone – feel special. Instead of lifting us up they may have put us down. Some of us may have even had a teacher who made students feel less intelligent because of the way they treated them. The chapter discusses the teachers and recall what it felt like to be privy to that class and experience.
