ABSTRACT

Students do not know their teachers care about them because it said so on the syllabus or because the teacher routinely proclaims to the entire class: "You guys know how much I love you." Students know their teacher cares about them by how he/she treats them. When teachers talk to the students outside of the classroom, teachers show it. When students are having a bad day and the teachers demonstrate compassion, teachers show it. Teachers do not ever want students wondering if they care about them. Teachers need their actions to leave no room for doubt.
