Digital technology offers the opportunity to transform products and services. In some cases, such as media and entertainment, organisations have had little option but to engage with digital technology as it radically changed, and continues to change, their industry. But in many other industries the digitisation of products and services is still, to some degree, an option, albeit one that needs to be taken very seriously.

Digitisation can mean enhancing existing products with add-ons such as additional information. It can mean changing a product into a digital format. It can even mean developing a new business model that is enabled by technology. All of these changes can have a radically positive effect on organisations if they are managed properly and if organisations develop the vision to imagine what additional value their future products and services might deliver through digital technology.
