ABSTRACT
This chapter analyses the construction of boundaries and linguistic practices as an approach to building a ‘pure nation’. The concept of ‘boundaries’ as a framework for analysis is used for two reasons. The first is contextual and builds on points to containment as an approach to surveillance. This containment discourse involves the surveillance of women’s bodies through attempts to curtail choices and agency in the performance of sexuality, thereby defining both visible and invisible boundaries.
