The research and development team will be pivotal in defining those technical features of the item being produced. There are numerous methods on how to do product design and new product introductions. A proven method that has worked very well across multiple industries is using a stage-gate project structure. As the new product goes through many different gyrations in the lab as part of the learning and discovery process, they outline the key product performance characteristics. Viscosity measures the thickness of the liquid paint. The value is measured online during the making of the paint batch helping us understand if all formulation components are put in the right ratios since a slight deviation of these constituents can directly affect the viscosity values. The last test measures the number of cracks which is very similar to the earlier metric used in House of Quality 1 of crack rates.
