ABSTRACT
Chapter 1 kicks off by laying out the motivations of the project, articulating the problematic application of the classical apparatus for evaluating architecture in the context of contemporary spatial practices. The following sections put forward a theoretical framework that aims to critically expand and reorganise the aforementioned classical apparatus. This framework is based on the combination of two lines of thought: The Inversion of Platonism (drawing from Nietzsche’s work via Gilles Deleuze) and the Theory of Models developed by Manuel DeLanda (drawing from Deleuze’s reading of Henri Poincaré) in the philosophical context of New Materialism. The concluding section explains how the recursive structure of the central chapters will be mobilised as a methodological approach to develop both descriptive and generative approaches to contemporary architectural production.
