ABSTRACT

Any program is only as good as its evaluation and feedback looping cycles, and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) in schools are no different. Iterative data collection, analysis, and revision must be part of the culture and expectations on a school campus in order for smart teams to continue improving while adapting to environment and student needs. The MTSS Evaluation Frequency and Intensity Framework structures how often data should be collected and from whom. It is a fluid framework for teams to use at various points in the data collection and evaluation cycle to make decisions about programmatic operations and efficiency. Single-loop data collection can be used to inform on routine processes and procedures, whereas double looping can be used to inform on long-term goals and directions. Forging partnerships outside the school are encouraged if program evaluation is not a strength of the school’s leadership team.
