ABSTRACT

Thomas Harrison was born about the year 1738, in the county of Cumberland, England, where he learned the trade of a tailor. a short time after the expiration of his apprenticeship, he went to London, where he worked a few years as a journeyman, and then emigrated to America, and commenced business in Philadelphia. He was moral in his habits, and religiously inclined, though eccentric in his manners. Becoming acquainted with members of the Society of Friends, he attended their meetings, and eventually embraced their doctrines. Upon his own application, he was, in due time, received into membership with them.
