ABSTRACT

Here begins the seventh part of the 'Filostrato,” in which first of all Troilo on the tenth day waits for Criseida at the gate. When she does not come, he excuses her and returns there the eleventh day and many others, and when she does not come, he goes back to his tears. Troilo consumes himself with sorrow; Priam asks him the reason; Troilo is silent about it; Troilo dreams Criseida has been taken from him; he tells it to Pandaro and wishes to kill himself; Pandaro restrains him and dissuades him from this; he writes to Criseida; Deiphebo perceives his affliction; while he is lying in bed, ladies visit him; Cassandra reprimands him and he reprimands her. And in the first place when the tenth day has arrived, Troilo and Pandaro await Criseida at the gate.
