ABSTRACT

Here begins the eighth part of the “Filostrato” in which first of all Troilo with letters and with messages again tests Criseida, who deceives him with her words. Soon, through a garment taken by Deiphebo from Diomede, Troilo recognizes from a brooch which was on it that Criseida was Diomede’s. Troilo grieves with Pandaro and completely despairs. Last of all, slain by Achilles, his sorrows end. And first of all Troilo with letters and with messages again tests the faith and love of Criseida.
