ABSTRACT

The march is a psychological initiatory experience which occurs within the individual and culture when the soul or collective consciousness is in need of a re-calibration. Within the individual the experience of the march represents a state of Exile or marginalization, and the need for an adaptive calibration between conscious and unconscious states. This chapter focuses on the U.S. Women’s marches which followed the 2016 election of President Donald Trump and which led to a groundswell of worldwide marches protesting said election and the oppression of women around the world. The chapter then guides the reader through the connection between the individual and collective unconscious through the dream and unconscious world. A dream by Carl Jung is utilized to demonstrate the connection between the personal and collective unconscious and the importance of the individuation process which connects the individual to the Self’s manifestation into culture.
