ABSTRACT

In Italy as indeed in the whole or warring Europe the eternal, cruel problem of violence had to be faced. The Italian people is fighting for life and death, without hesitation and without pity. Marshal Graziani presented a list of the Italian Republican army's needs and dwelled on the imperative necessity of its reconstruction. An Italian Liberation Corps went into action in their ranks, and the Partisan movement continued to grow. Whole valleys were liberated and the Partisans set up their own border posts with full inspection of travelers' documents. Partisans had organized everywhere in that mountainous country. Partisan units multiplied: the Socialists' Matteotti organizations, the Giustizia e Liberta groups, the independent Catholic and officer-soldier bands. An Italian Liberation Corps went into action in their ranks, and the Partisan movement continued to grow.
