ABSTRACT

Lia had already completed her discourse when from somewhere nearby the sweet voice of a ringing bagpipe reached their ears; and turning toward it they saw a shepherd seated in a charming spot, where he had come with his herd from the nearby slopes. In the cool shade he played to the herd as with hot bodies it ruminated, stretched out on the lovely green grass; and while playing he occasionally added pretty words to his notes with graceful verse.
