ABSTRACT

This chapter presents several prompts and exercises that evolved over the course of workshops, classes, devising processes, and rehearsals spanning over a dozen years. Participants in the iteration of international workshop, which occupied most of the first three days of the 2019 F.L.I.P.T. in Fara in Sabina, hailed from 16 countries. The exercises can be performed separately, but it interesting to scaffold several of them over the course of days, weeks, or months in order to build work. Some exercises, if executed step by step, may result in a text, drawing, series of photographs, video, or performance, although these products should be regarded as side effects of the process. Using fragments of remembered walks and shapes proscribed by their movements and attention, participants rather had to make vivid proposals and physical scores that would give those watching visual and aural scaffolding, a canvas upon which to project their own imagined cities.
