ABSTRACT
Manchester is a city in Northwest England and is part of the wider metropolitan areas, one of England’s most populated areas outside London. Often vying with Birmingham for the title of England’s second city, it has a rich and complex urban culture and is home to some of the UK’s best and most well-known architecture. Following the terrorist bomb attack in 1996, Manchester was reborn and underwent extensive investment and regeneration to immediate city centre, and helped enhance existing city developments like the Salford Quays and the development of the Northern Quarter of the city. Manchester is classed as one of the beta cities in the UK, where its contributions in art, architecture, media and sport are recognised as a major factor in developing global urban culture. There is a rich interior culture within city which is defined by its urban and regional diversity. Manchester could be accused of not having any specific design style. It blends Victoriana with hyper-modernity.
