ABSTRACT

The interior helps articulate and transform the experience of spaces and places across the globe. Often some of the most intelligent and articulate interior spaces come from the transformation of an existing building. As designers weave transformative composition into the environments they create, this is enhanced by establishing the spatial concept through the design process. The best transformations are through compounded experiences by integrating different interior forms and moving interior typologies. An import consideration in the transformation of space is the professional practices of the change of use of the interior. Transformative experiences occur when knowledge is imparted either through an exhibition or a museum display. Exhibition design displays and imparts knowledge to a wide audience. The design of the interior is seen as a transformative discipline. Global transformations are often triggered by an event or festival. Large-upscale events that impact upon national and regional identity often create transformations in cultural and design terms.
