ABSTRACT
Spatial choreography is formed from the selection and specification of materials and products by the designer and is a critical aspect of the space, interior and the user. The materials and products that are used in interior space help to both define but also bind the space together and are a complex matrix of surface, strength, pliability and beauty. The key criterion for the selection of sustainable materials is whether the material can come from resources that can be easily regrown or replenished. Unfortunately, for commercial reasons, the reuse of materials has not always seemed appropriate or desirable. Many recycled materials are seen as substandard or secondary to the original material. The selection of materials and the significance of how these materials fit together is of the key skills and employability criterion of an interior designer. The materials of the space have structural qualities that are used in the construction stage of the interior.
