The design process sits at the heart of creative professional practice, acting as a method leading the designer from creative conception through to realisation. The design process helps frame the lexicon of spatial language that develops meaning and purpose across the design disciplines. Investigations and project discoveries occur during several aspects of the design process. First, there are initial investigations as part of the first approaches by the client about a project. Developing the analysis and evaluation of a design is critical. The best analysis is completed as part of an ongoing design process. International retail brands often use a mixture of philosophies for the design of their stores. Some use the same design company for all of their sites which improves the consistency of the design and the brand. An international analysis of interior space should be centred on the international nature of the user. This might apply to anthropometric information, but also how regional cultures use space.
